  THE LAST OF THE RINGS

  (THE VAMPIRE AWAKENING)

  Chapter 1

Nessa stood at the balcony of her apartment staring at the bands of streetlights below, the concrete towers with their uneven patchwork of the lighted windows, the shimmering reds, greens, yellows and whites of neon signs and traffic lights. The sun would be coming up in a few minutes. The fresh air and wind brushed and caressed her suave face, blowing her long russet-brown hair to her back. The previous nights’ events still lingering fresh in her mind.

She had made love to Thomas for the first time. She couldn’t thank her stars enough for having him with her. It had been six months since they’d met at a diner owned by her sister Trina as Thomas went to have his lunch, and the previous night was the first time they’d explored their bodily pleasures.

She knew she wasn’t supposed to fall in love with any mortal. It was nothing short of a recipe for disaster. But despite all the warning bells in her head, she couldn’t resist him. Though he had no idea that she was a vampire, Nessa could only hope she could put up with the charade forever.

Before she could turn back and head to bed, Thomas sprung up behind her and wound his arms around her lean waist. All he had on were the bottoms to a pair of paisley silk pajamas. They rode low on his hips, exposing the navel in the middle of his incredibly flat stomach. He had a marvelous physique, his shoulders wide and all the muscles well defined.

“I was wondering where this gorgeous being had disappeared to” he whispered into her ears as he swirled her around so she was facing him, running his hands through her hair and smelling it’s strawberry scent. She always smelled so good. Her strawberry shampoo always made him want to smell her hair and silk soft skin every other time.

“I just came out to get some air” Nessa said as she leaned forward and kissed him.

“Did you miss me?” she teased.

“My dick missed you more, and it can only show you how much” Thomas answered as he ran his hands down her back to her ass and squeezed them.

“I love the sound of that” Nessa said as she wound her arms around his neck.

Thomas cupped her face in his hands and looked into her gorgeous amber eyes. He leaned down and bit her bottom lip lightly, pulling it a bit to arouse her. He then dipped his tongue into her warm mouth. Nessa opened her mouth wider to his searching tongue and they moaned in unison and pressed closer, her huge tits brushing against his chest. Nessa could feel Thomas’s dick brushing against her legs. He was slightly hard.

She had on short silk-white lingerie. Thomas ran his hands down to her back and pressed her to him. He proceeded down to her ass and squeezed them again parting them in the process. Nessa jumped onto his waist and whispered into his ears.

  “Let’s get inside honey”

She knew very well that if the sun came up and she was exposed to its rays without her ring, then that would be the end of her. Thomas held her tightly to him as he walked into her bedroom and placed her on the bed gently.

He went on top of her and dipped his tongue into her mouth again, pressing his dick between her thighs. He ran down his hands to her breasts and squeezed them, pulling off the strands of her lingerie, he licked her neck down to the pink buds of her huge tits.

He took one into his mouth and sucked it, nibbling it with his teeth as he tasted their salty taste. Using his thumb and index finger, he caressed the other nipple, pulling and rubbing it to feel them harden.

Nessa moaned with pleasure and arched her body upwards signaling she wanted more. Thomas placed wet kisses on her chest as he proceeded to her flat stomach then to her navel. He pulled off her lingerie and threw it to the floor, leaving her naked and hot for him. He went down to her pussy and stroke it with his middle finger. She was so wet. Using his other hand, he parted her pink folds and stroke her clit with his tongue.

Nessa moaned again and ran her hands through his hair, arching him to continue. He sucked and nibbled her clit with his tongue as he placed two fingers inside her wet pussy, finger-fucking her and exploring her insides.

Nessa parted her legs wider for him, her fingers biting into the bed-sheets as she lost herself, wanting him to eat her and take her, and so he did. Her eyes started changing color from the normal amber to a burning red. Vampires could turn and show their true selves in suppression of an emotion. This could be anger, pain and pleasure. She couldn’t let Thomas see her like that. She shut her eyes and took deep breaths to gain control of her statue.

Thomas continued to suck her juices and when she thought she could orgasm no more she sat up and brought Thomas’s face to hers, kissing him passionately while dipping her tongue into his mouth and playing with his. She rolled over on top of him and parted her legs. She bent over and kissed his chin then his neck, she loved the taste of him. She proceeded down to his chest and placed light wet kisses as she rubbed and sucked his nipples.

Thomas moaned and bit his bottom lip. There was something about Nessa’s tongue that made him tingle all over. She went down to his belly then his navel as she pulled off his pajamas leaving his huge dick bare and wanting.

She licked and nibbled his balls and then placed his huge hard dick in her mouth, taking as much as she could and rubbing the rest that couldn’t fit into her mouth with her hand. She sucked him in an up and down motion and nibbled the head between her teeth. Thomas arched his back up in pleasure. He wanted to be inside her.

He sat up and brought her face to his, kissing her passionately as he rolled her over to lay on her back. He parted her legs and rubbed his hard dick on her wet pussy. He then thrust inside her, filling her wet cunt with his huge dick. He was big, but he felt bigger inside her. Nessa parted her legs wider and wrapped her arms tightly around his neck.

Screaming at the top of her voice, he entered her again and again until his entire dick was inside her, oh how she loved the feeling. They moaned in unison until they both climaxed. Her fangs shot out as she lost herself. She felt his heartbeat in her head and the veins on his neck called out to her, his blood felt so hot on her skin and she so badly wanted to bite him.

She closed her eyes and took deep breaths as a tear ran down her cheek.

  “I love you” Thomas muttered.
/>   This was the first time he’d said those words since they’d met. It came as a surprise and she didn’t know how to react.

Thomas pulled back enough so he was looking into her eyes.

“Are you crying honey?” he asked with concern as he stroke her face.

“No, I’m just happy babe, you make me so happy” she answered as she pulled him to her and kissed him lightly.

“Did you hear what I just told you?” Thomas continued.

“Yes, I heard you and i…”

Her statement was suddenly interrupted by the strident ring of the telephone. She leaned over the bed to the drawer next to her bed and lifted the receiver from the cradle only to hear a hysterical Trina from the other side of the phone.

“I killed him Nessa, I killed him, but I didn’t mean to” she cried hysterically.

Trina was Nessa’s blood sister. They had lived together for over three hundred years since their parents died and wherever Nessa went, Trina went with her. They had kept their vampire nature a secret since their parents died and whenever they’d stayed in a place for years and felt that people would begin to notice their un-ageing nature, they’d move on to a different town or city and start over.

They were in Los Angeles at that time and Nessa knew there were more of their kind but they’d never crossed paths with any since they left their home over three hundred years back. They’d always managed to survive by drinking deer blood which they hunted at night. They also ate human meals as a disguise so as not to draw any attention even though it had no effect in quenching their thirst.

With this, Trina owned a diner where she managed to store their blood supply.

“Calm down Trina, I don’t understand what you mean, take deep breaths and slowly tell me what happened” Nessa answered as she pulled the sheets and covered her nakedness.

“Last night as I was coming from the diner Maxwell offered to wait around for me. As I closed shop, we were about to leave when these three odd looking guys came in before we could close the doors. I tried telling them we were closed but they said they were hungry and needed a treat” Trina narrated between sobs.

“Calm down honey” Nessa comforted her and prodded her to continue.

“They just jumped on us and before I knew it, they were all over Maxwell biting and sucking his blood, I managed to get away and ran out through the back. One of them followed me, but I lost him and hid beneath the dock” Trina continued.

“I left him Nessa, I left him to die without lifting a hand to help him, I killed him Nessa” she continued before she burst out crying.

“Where are you right now” Nessa asked grimly.

“I’m still at the dock” answered a shaken Trina.

“ok, stay put, I’m coming to get you” Nessa said then hurriedly put the receiver back on the cradle.

Somehow, her worst nightmare was coming to life. She knew that someday she’d encounter the collision with other vampires, and from Trina’s explanation, they sounded like the new Reign. These were ruthless vampires who killed mortals including humans to quench their thirst without having a care of exposure.

“Is everything ok Nessa, who was on the phone?” Thomas asked with concern as he caressed her back.

“I have to leave Thomas, that was Trina, but there’s nothing to worry about, I’ll take care of it” she said as she rose and rushed to her closet pulling out the closest pair of jeans and slipping them on.

“Wait a minute Nessa, what happened to Trina, you can’t just up and leave me like this without telling me anything. Ok, am coming with you”.

“No, you cannot come with me, this is something I’ve got to take care of myself, I’ll call you when I get back” Nessa stated raucously as she pulled a drawer and took out her ring then headed down the stairs through the kitchen and out of the compound.

For a second there, Thomas wondered where she’d disappeared to. She was in his sight for a minute then out of sight in another. He couldn’t make out where or how she had disappeared. He went back to her bedroom and got dressed.

It was almost eight in the morning and he still had to get back to work. He worked as a lawyer in one of the most established law firms in the district.

  Chapter 2

Nessa got to the dock and found Trina hiding behind a boat. She looked so pale and shaken. Nessa more than anything hated having Trina experience any harm. She’d promised their parents to always take care of her sister, and that day, she felt like she’d failed them somehow.

“Did you get a look at the people who attacked you Trina” she asked as she hugged and comforted her shaken sister.

“Yes Nessa, I did. I thought you told me we were the only ones in Los Angeles” Trina answered with a confused expression on her face.

“How do you mean Trish?” Nessa asked.

“They had fangs Nessa, they were vampires, just like us and they looked ruthless. I thought our kind wasn’t supposed to kill humans, where did they come from” Trina spoke with so much fright in her voice.

“I’ll explain everything Trish, c’mon lets go to the diner, we don’t want to attract any attention to ourselves” Nessa said as she held her sister by the shoulders and proceeded to the diner.

“I can’t go in there” Trina said as they got to the diner.

“Ok, wait here, I’ll check it out first” Nessa offered.

The door was ajar and Nessa pushed it open. She used her powers to see if she could detect any movement or any unusual sense of smell, she couldn’t make out anything. When she got into the diner, she touched the counter and images flashed through her mind.

She saw everything that had happened the previous night. Her vision was suddenly interrupted by Trina’s voice.

“Where is his body?” she asked.

  “They took him Trish”

“Took him, where, did they kill him?” Trina asked as she broke into a sob.

“I don’t think anyone can survive such an attack”

“What do you mean Nessa, you mean you saw what actually happened here, how?” Trina asked with a shocked expression on her face.

“I think it’s time you knew the truth Trish”

“Truth, what do you mean Nessa?”

“Before mum and dad died, they entitled you and the family’s secret to me. Mum and dad didn’t die in an accident as you’ve known all these years. They were killed Trish, they were killed with a group called the Reign. These are ruthless vampires who believe they have the right to rule and dictate our existence. They can only do so when they have possession of all the rings, the kind of rings that you and I own” Nessa explained.

“You mean these vampires have been after us all these years and want to take our rings, but how will we survive daylight Nessa?” Trina wondered.

“The rings don’t only protect us from sunlight, they entail other powers that boost our original powers. I have the gift to see the future and past events as they happened with just a touch of an item that was present when it happened” Nessa explained.

“You want to tell me I also have other powers?”

“Yes Trish, and I’m sure in time you’ll get to find out what they are” Nessa explained.

‘How could you keep this from me Nessa, all these years you didn’t tell me that mum and dad were killed, and that there was an army after us to kill us, I thought we were close Nessa, how could you do this to me. Maxwell is now dead and if I had a heads-up, I probably would have been on the look-out and maybe this wouldn’t have happened. I might as well have just killed him myself” Trina argued as she sat down on a chair near her.

She knew how much Trina cared for Maxwell, even though she never liked him as much as Maxwell did. He’d wanted them to be a couple but Trina wanted to take things slow.

“I was trying to protect you Trish, mum and dad told me to take care of you and we’ve been avoiding the Reign’s trail all these years. If I’d known they’d found us, I would have told you” Nessa explained.

  “S
o you were actually waiting for me to get attacked before you got the audacity to tell me that there are people trying to kill us? Very smart Nessa” Trina chided.

“I wish I could undo what happened last night little sister, but it’s in the past and now you know. We have to leave town Trish” Nessa stated.

Silence filled the air as Trina took in everything that Nessa had just told her. Before she could utter a word, she felt a sharp pain on her back. It was the most painful experience she’d ever experienced and in no time, she felt her entire body go numb as she fell on the floor, her vision becoming blurry.

Nessa sprung up in the air using her vampire prowess and landed on the window pane, she pulled the folds open and sunlight filled the room. The vampire that attacked her sister yelled out in pain as the sun’s ray turned him to dust.
